The movement forms provide the base for our low impact class. These forms are extensions of those done within our core Han Guk Mu Sool martial arts class, and extension is the key word! Each movement is expanded out and slowed down to ensure the joints can utilise their full range of motion without putting undue stress on them. This is what turns the class into low impact, it isn't just about not being thrown around by someone else (although that is a part of ensuring it is low impact), it is also about the impact or stress you are putting onto your own body.
The first Low Impact Movement Form is based on Ki Cho Hyung, our white belt form. This form provides the foundation movements for the martial art, everything we do is built upon the movements within this form, so it is the first, and most important, thing you will learn. Learn to do this form well and everything from that point will be slightly easier to pick up!
When doing these low impact forms the body must be relaxed, any tension within the muscles will inhibit the bodys ability to move freely.
Parts 1 and 2 focus on fluid motion, there should be no sudden movements within it, but also no stopping, one move flows into the next, one part flows into the next until the end. When we learn it, we do so by steps, move this foot, put your hands here etc, but once you know the moves then you need to turn those steps into an escalator, where there is one constant flow from the bottom (start) to the top (end).
